Raleigh Bicyclist Christopher Small Seriously Injured By Box Truck
Christopher Small, a Raleigh bicyclist, was seriously injured on Monday afternoon on Louisburg Road after being hit by a box truck.
The accident apparently happened while Mr. Small was riding south on Louisburg Road near Spring Forest Road and a box truck came up behind him. According to reports, the box truck attempted to pass Mr. Small but the side view mirror struck Mr. Small in the back of the head causing him to fall from the bicycle. Mr. Small is apparently at WakeMed in critical condition.
The driver of the box truck has been charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
This terrible accident is very similar to a case we handled earlier this year for a gentlemen riding his bicycle near Wilmington. In that case, a box truck was also attempting to pass our client bicyclist when the side view mirror struck the bicyclist. After litigating the case in state and federal court, we were able to obtain a very favorable result. A key to obtaining a favorable result was our use of an excellent accident reconstructionist and engineer to recreate the accident scene to accurately show how the accident happened.
