Study Indicates Adult Bike Injuries Rising
A recent study published in the prestigious medical journal, JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), indicates that more U.S. adults are getting hurt while riding bicycles. This trend is particular prevalent for middle-aged and older men.
Apparently, the study looked at data collected by the Consumer Product Safety Administration from 100 emergency rooms nationwide. The findings indicate a 28% increase in bike injuries during the past 15 years. A possible explanation is that older people are bicycling at a higher rate and these same people are more prone to injury.
