Raleigh Bicyclist Killed in NC Highway 98 Accident
A terrible accident on Tuesday morning on NC Highway 98 has resulted in the death of Raleigh bicyclist Eugene Rotberg.
The accident happened around 11:00 a.m. and involved a black pickup truck. According to available information, the accident happened near the intersection with Cheek Road and the pickup apparently struck Mr. Rotberg throwing him to the shoulder of the road. The driver of the pickup has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Mr. Rotberg was 66 years old and a retired physical education teacher with Wake County Schools having primarily worked at Dillard Drive Elementary. He currently worked at Life Time Cycle in Raleigh and was apparently an avid cyclist. There is no information on why the driver of the pickup failed to see Mr. Rotberg.
