Wilmington, North Carolina Bicyclist Charged With Safe Movement Violation In Causing Wreck

It does not happen often, but a bicyclist was charged with a safe movement violation for causing a wreck on Monday morning in Wilmington.

The wreck happened on Wrightsville Avenue when a bicyclist pulled out in front of on-coming traffic and was hit by a Cadillac.  The bicyclist was injured but not seriously.

This is an interesting but important situation.  As advocates for bicyclists, we often point out that bicyclists are to be treated as any other vehicle under the alws of North Carolina.  In this case, that same fair treatment required that the bicyclist be given a citation for causing this wreck.
