Raleigh Bicycle Wreck With Tractor-Trailer Claims Life of Bicyclist
A terrible wreck on the 4th of July has claimed the life of a Raleigh bicyclist.
The bicyclist, Steven Jordan, was apparently struck by a tractor-trailer while riding on Perry Creek Road. The wreck happened around 2:15 in the afternoon. tragically, Mr. Jordan was killed in the wreck. Mr. Jordan was the director of the mental health division of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Police are still investigating this accident.
The Joran family has our deepest sympathies for this tremendous loss.
This wreck poses many questions and hopefully the police will find answers. Was the tractor-trailer trying to pass the bicyclist? If so, did the tractor-trailer provide enough room when passing (knowing that the bicycle is considered a vehicle and is entitled to the entire lane)? What part of the tractor-trailer struck the bicyclist (we have had several recent cases where a bicyclist was struck by the mirror of a passing truck)?
In a wreck such as this, it may be important to have an independent accident reconstructionist investigate the scene to find answers to critical questions about what happened in this terrible wreck.
