Rooha Sheikh Killed in Outer Banks Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash and Driver Sentenced

A serious bicycle accident in 2011 that claimed the life of the bicyclist has resulted in 10 days in jail for the driver of the car that hit the bicyclist.

The bicyclist, Rooha Sheikh, was apparently crossing the center lane of NC Highway 258 when a car came into the lane and struck her.  Subsequent investigations indicate conflicting stories about where the accident happened.  Nonetheless, the driver of the car fled the scene but was pulled over by police shortly after the accident.  The driver was found to have a blood alcohol content above the legal limit along with traces of cocaine.  The accident happened in Nags Head but the driver was arrested in Kill Devil Hills.
