Bicyclist Matthew Hawkings Injured in Cape Carteret NC Hit-and-Run Accident
A gentleman named Matthew Hawkings was riding his bicycle on NC 58 on Monday when he was seriously injured by a hit-and-run motorist.
The accident happened at approximately 12:46 pm as Mr. Hawkings was riding north on NC 58 just outside of Cape Carteret, NC. Apparently, a passing vehicle struck Mr. Hawkings with its side mirror and then fled the scene. The mirror was recovered at the accident scene and the vehicle is believed to be a mid 1990s Chevrolet pickup or possibly a Suburban.
