A bicyclist from Florida named Ignacio Giraldo was seriously injured Thursday morning in a hit-and-run accident near Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina.
The wreck happened around 11:40 am on US 221 when an unknown person driving a minivan crossed the center line and hit Mr. Giraldo as he rode with a group of cyclists.
The driver of the minivan fled the scene leaving Mr. Giraldo in critical condition.

A bicyclist was hit on Wednesday on Tracey Grove Road near Hendersonville, North Carolina by a vehicle that fled the scene. Police indicate that the vehicle was a 2015-2017 silver Lexus ES 350 that would exhibit some damage on its right front from the wreck.
Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 828-697-4596.
There is no word about injuries sustained by the bicyclist.

A bicyclist in Wilmington, North Carolina was seriously injured when he was hit at by a vehicle at the intersection of Oleander Drive and Boathouse Road on Sunday. The wreck happened at around 2:50 pm and resulted in charges of failure to yield against the driver of the vehicle.
The bicyclist, a 68 year old man, suffered numerous broken bones and was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A bicyclist named Justin Garland was tragically killed on Friday evening in a crash near Gastonia, North Carolina. The crash happened just after 6:00 pm on Dallas-Stanley Highway outside of Dallas, North Carolina in Gaston County.
According to available information, Mr. Garland was riding his bicycle in the middle of the road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident. Mr. Garland was 32 years old and apparently resided nearby the accident scene.
At this time, there is no information regarding the driver that hit Mr. Garland and whether the driver was distracted at the time of the collision. If we learn more about this wreck, we will update this post.

A young woman named Jessica Bridger was seriously injured early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident while riding her bicycle in Durham, North Carolina.
The wreck happened on West Club Boulevard near Duke Street at around 1:00 am on Saturday. As a result of the collision, Ms. Bridger was transported to Duke University Medical Center in critical but stable condition. Hopefully, she will be OK.
Police are seeking any information regarding the vehicle that hit Ms. Bridger. The vehicle is expected to have left front damage and damage to the windshield. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Cox with the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4935 ext 29409.

A gentleman bicyclist named Robert Jordan was seriously injured on Monday evening in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The wreck happened around 9:23 pm on Reynolda Drive. According to available information, Mr. Jordan was riding his bicycle in the right southbound lane of Reynolda Drive when he was hit by a passenger car that fled the scene.
The Winston-Salem Police Department is seeking information regarding this wreck and can be reached at 336-773-7700.

A gentleman riding on a bicycle was seriously injured Monday morning after being hit by a car near the entrance to Piedmont Community Charter School. The crash happened just before 8:00 am on South New Hope Road. The bicyclist, a 60 year old man, was taken to CaroMont hospital by ambulance. Reports indicate that he as unconscious at the scene but still breathing.
Police have now identified the bicyclist as Kyle Longenecker. Additional information indicates that Mr. Longenecker was hit by a 17 year-old student who was turning into the school. As of now, no charges have been filed.
A red sedan was towed away from the scene. However, it is not clear what happened in this wreck. If we learn more information, we will update this post.

A bicyclist in Wilmington NC was seriously injured last Friday in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of 31st Street and Princess Street. The crash happened around 7:30 am and involved a Chrysler 300 with tinted windows that left the scene.

A young man named Jovan Jordany Yurnet Matos was tragically killed on Thursday night while riding his bicycle in Nags Head, North Carolina. The crash happened around 5:00 pm on South Croatan Highway. According to the limited information available, Mr. Matos was riding his bike in the southbound lane of South Croatan Highway when he was hit by a woman driving a car.

A truck driver has now been charged in the Wilmington NC bicycle wreck that resulted in the death of bicyclist William Batson. The wreck happened on Friday evening near the intersection of Gregory Road and Banbury Lane at around 9:30 pm.
According to new information from the Wilmington police department, the pickup truck driver was traveling on Gregory Road and attempted to make a turn onto Banbury Lane when he hit Mr. Batson. The driver of the pickup has now been charged with several crimes including driving while impaired.
Police are still working on their investigation of this accident. Mr. Batson was 34 years old and apparently lived very close to the accident scene.
