A gentleman riding his bicycle on Wednesday night in High Point, North Carolina was hit by a car that then fled the scene. The accident happened on Manley Street at around 8:45 pm. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The article on this accident notes that the bicyclist did not have headlights on his bicycle. However, many nighttime bicycle accidents involve rear-collisions and the existence of a front headlight is of questionable relevance. North Carolina does not require that bicycles have a rear-facing light.

A young man attending Cary High School was hit while riding his bike near the school on Tuesday afternoon.
The student, Islom Juraev, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is not clear whether charges would be filed against the driver of the vehicle.

It is not clear from the information available as to who was at fault in this accident. Certainly, if the young bicyclist was riding in a crosswalk in a situation where other students were also around, it would seem that the driver of the vehicle should have exercised particular caution when approaching the situation.
