A wreck in Greenville on Friday sent a bicyclist to the hospital with injuries. The bicyclist, James Bryant, was traveling on Whichard Road when he was hit by a car driven by Jennifer Burrus. Mr. Burrus was cited for failure to yield. Click here for more.

According to reports on WRAL TV5, a Zebulon bicyclist was struck by a suspected drunken driver on Saturday evening. The driver, Timothy Hodge, was charged with several crimes including felony hit and run. For more, click here.
As the weather warms up, we can expect more and more bicycle wrecks. Please be careful as drivers continually fail to respect the rights of bicyclists.

A recent wreck in Salisbury, North Carolina highlights the dangers of vehicles who do not pay enough attention to bicyclists. The wreck happened on South Main Street in Salisbury when a pick-up truck driven by Leonard Savercool apparently was passing Shawn Sexton while Mr. Sexton was riding his bicycle with another bicyclist. Apparently, the right side mirror of the pick-up clipped Mr. Sexton. Mr. Sexton has been hospitalized with serious injuries. Click here for more.

As reported by WRAL TV, a wreck on highway 96 north of Selma, North Carolina has injured two bicyclists. The wreck happened Friday night and appears to have happened while a vehicle was passing the bicyclists – Renny Barnard and Richard Baker. Both Mr. Barnard and Mr. Baker were taken to local hospitals. Click here for more.

As reported by JDNews.com, Cedar Point resident Nancy Hatsell was seriously injured when she was hit by a Toyota car while riding her bicycle on Saturday. For more click here.
The driver of the Toyota, Rebecca Hughes was charged with an unsafe movement violation.

As reported by MyFox8.com, New Jersey resident Michael Pellegrino was killed while riding his bicycle on Highway 421 near Liberty, North Carolina. The driver of the car fled and has not been found. For more, click here.

As reported by WCTI12.com, a bicyclist was found seriously injured on the Neuse River Bridge near the fork of US 70 and Highway 17 north. How the accident occurred is not currently known. The bicyclist was taken to Carolina East Medical Center and then likely airlifted to Pitt memorial.

As reported by MyFox8.com, an Elon University student was seriously injured while riding a bicycle near campus on Wednesday. The bicyclist, an exchange student from Afghanistan, was airlifted to Duke University with multiple fractures. The driver who hit the bicyclist, fled the scene. The bicyclist, Toorialet Fazly, is in his first year at Elon.
What a terrible story but one that we hear far too often. Hopefully, Mr. Fazly will recover from his injuries and the driver will be caught.

As reported by MyNC.Com, a Morrisville woman, Kristen Snipes, has been arrested in the hit and run incident involving bicyclist Gustavo Angalo. Mr. Angalo was riding his bicycle in Cary on Chapel Hill Road. Mr. Angalo was taken to WakeMed with what appears to be serious injuries.
