Charlotte, North Carolina Teen Severely Injured on Bike

Early Thursday morning, a Charlotte teen was seriously injured when his bicycle was struck by a car in Charlotte. For more information click here.

Hopefully, the teenager will recover from these injuries. As the summer months approach, driver’s need to be aware that bicycles are entitled to use the roads in the same way as cars.

Raleigh Becomes More Bike Friendly

As reported by the Raleigh News and Observer, the Raleigh City Council voted recently to add bike lanes as part of the upgrade of Hillsborough Street.

Obviously, this is a great start to improve bike safety in the Raleigh area. Hopefully, this trend will continue in other triangle communities such as Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Garner, Durham and Fuquay Varina.

Cary, North Carolina Boy Recovering After Bicycle Wreck

As reported by the Raleigh News and Observer, a Cary, North Carolina boy is recovering from injuries sustained in a bicycle wreck.

Fortunately, the injuries in this incident appear to not be severe.  With the temperature warming up, we expect to see more bicycle wrecks in North Carolina.  Please take precautions when you ride.

Bicycle wreck leads to lawsuit

As reported by the Baltimore Sun newspaper, a bicycle wreck resulting in the death of a 67 year old man has resulted in a lawsuit.  The lawsuit contends that a truck driver turned right into the path of the bicycle rider without first signaling.

Avid North Carolina Cyclist Killed

As reported by WRAL-TV, the owner of Triangle Roadway Bicycling, Bruce W. Rosar, died when his bicycle was struck by a car in Apex, North Carolina.  A preliminary investigation by the Apex police department indicated the cyclist turned left toward the Apex Peakway and crossed into the path of a vehicle on South Salem Street.
